Google will rely on self-censorship to return to China as a prodigal son

Google cannot keep its eyes on China and, given the lucrative nature of this market, is planning to relaunch its search engine there with censored results to comply with the strict requirements of the authorities in the Asian giant. This is reported by the electronic publication The Intercept , which says it has internal documents from the Mountain View company.

According to The Intercept , Google is preparing a mobile version of its search engine, which has been blocked in China since 2010, and is willing to rely on self-censorship in order to return to the Chinese market.

The version that the company led by Sundar Pichai is reportedly working on would stop searches on human rights, religion and peaceful protests, among other topics.

The project , named Dragonfly, is oman number screening believed to have begun to take shape in the spring of last year , although it did not take shape until December 2017 after a meeting between Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google , and a senior official of the Chinese government.

If the Chinese authorities give the green light to the new Google search engine, it could be launched within the next six to nine months.

However, and despite the information (apparently first-hand) published by The Intercept , the Chinese state media China Securities Daily has already denied that Google plans to return to the Asian market.
