The term SEO visibility, which is among the most popular metrics in the SEO world, may not always be that easy to understand. I tried to explain the most basic definition of SEO visibility, which is calculated by different SEO tools by including different criteria, its importance and then what can be done to improve this metric in my blog post.
What is SEO Visibility?
The simplest way to define SEO Visibility would probably be:
“SEO visibility is a metric that represents the percentage of all possible organic clicks a website receives for a particular keyword.”
So what does this mean?
As you know, websites gain positions on search engines based on the keywords they are related to, and different CTRs, or click-through rates, are obtained depending on the position they are ranked for in the relevant keywords. SEO visibility is a metric that measures your estimated click-through rate for the keywords you are ranked for in search engines.

As you can see in the graph above, the click-through rate decreases as the position decreases. The click-through rate of a website ranked first is 31.73%, while the click-through rate of a website ranked second is 24.71%. SEO visibility value also decreases as the position decreases, and average SEO visibility values can be obtained on a page basis or on the entire site through different tools.
For example, if your website is in the 3rd position for a keyword, your SEO visibility for that keyword will be 18.66%. In the calculation of visibility for the entire site, different metrics may come into play depending on the tool you use. You can easily determine your SEO visibility score and perform comparative analysis with your competitors through tools such as Searchmetrics, Semrush , Seomonitor and Seo.do.

You should remember that your SEO visibility is not job seekers database valid in any case. 100% SEO visibility means that you are ranked first for all keywords and get all the clicks, which is not possible. You should also keep in mind that your SEO visibility will be 0 for keywords that you are ranked on page 2 and below.

When faced with such a situation, action should be taken quickly and the reason for the decrease in the visibility chart should be investigated.

The SEO visibility metric allows you to get information about the progress of your website at a glance. You can quickly get information about your performance by providing visibility tracking on a weekly, monthly or annual basis. However, remember that SEO visibility is not a single criterion.
