Energy Saving Certificate

Post by pappu865 »

We are increasingly aware of the need to make responsible use of energy. Countries also have common goals to stop climate change and there are mechanisms that promote this commitment to the planet. Have you ever heard of the CAE? The Energy Saving Certificate has already been established in other countries and has now also been launched in Spain .

If you are wondering what it consists of, who it is addressed to, how this document is processed and what differentiates it from the Energy Efficiency Certificate (CEE), join us to clear up any doubts.

What is CAE?

In Spain, there is legislation that requires electricity retailers, gas retailers, wholesale operators of petroleum products and wholesale operators of liquefied petroleum gases to make contributions to business and consumer email list the National Energy Efficiency Fund (FNEE), established by Law 18/2014, of October 15.

Now, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has also launched an Energy Saving Certificate System whose aim is to accelerate energy savings . We explain how the process works.

The keys to understanding the CAE
This new system allows companies obliged to contribute to the FNEE to meet their energy saving obligations with other measures , partially replacing the annual monetary contribution they make. They can do this in several ways:

Promoting energy saving actions in its facilities
By acquiring the CAE in the market, since it is a purchase/sale asset
These actions may be related to lighting, air conditioning or intelligent management of energy demand .

Energy Saving Certificates (CAE), or “white certificates” as they are colloquially known, have been used for years in other European countries such as Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy and the United Kingdom.

The energy savings certificate (CAE) is issued by the manager designated by each community and the coordination of the system corresponds to the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge .

What actions does a CAE certify?
Anything, as long as it represents a measurable energy saving, such as something as simple as switching to LED lighting in offices.

At an official level, we can highlight two types of actions: the singular ones and the standardized ones . The latter are catalogued and can be known in advance in a catalogue prepared by the Ministry . That is, you can check how much savings and how many CAE can be achieved (1 CAE = 1 kWh of Energy Saving) with the measure in question.

On the other hand, the so-called Singular Actions are more complex and represent greater savings .
