What information is required in the lithium battery test summary?

Post by Joyzfsdsk322 »

One of the most important aspects of the test summary requirements is that the summaries are standardized and include the same relevant information. According to PHMSA guidance, the test summary summary must include :

Name of cell, battery or product manufacturer, as applicable. Contact information for your cell, battery or product manufacturer to provide address, phone number, email address and website for further information.
The name of the testing laboratory with address, telephone number, email address viber database and website should be provided for further information.
Unique test report identification number.
Date of test report.
Description of the cell or battery with:
Please indicate whether you have a lithium ion or lithium metal cell or battery.
Mass of the cell or battery.
Hourly rating or lithium content.
Physical description of the cell/battery.
Number of numbers.
A list of tests performed and the results (ie, pass or fail).
Reference to assembled battery testing requirements, if applicable (i.e., 38.3.3 (f) and 38.3.3 (g)).
Signature with the signatory's name and title as an indication of the validity of the information provided.

What does "Make Available" mean?
This information does not need to be attached to the batteries or even shipped, but it can only be made available to anyone who requests it.

It is acceptable for the supplier to require the applicant to obtain the document electronically from the supplier's website. The supplier must ensure that the cell/battery/product has appropriate identifiers to align with the test summary. 1

What are the challenges of compliance?
As lithium battery regulations become more complex, the supply chain will need more information about the batteries and cells they handle to maintain compliance.

These challenges include:

The requirement for when cells or batteries from other manufacturers are to be used.
Implement a suitable system to meet the new requirement.
Difficulty validating or obtaining a test summary from some cell or battery manufacturers.
How can I minimize the regulatory burden?
As lithium battery regulations become more complex, the batteries they carry require more information to maintain compliance. CHEMTREC has developed a lithium battery test summary document management system, CRITERIA™ , to assist with regulatory compliance.

CRITÉIR serves as a central source for test summary documents and provides a full range of useful tools for customers. These resources include:

CHEMTREC will provide a secure login to your company’s dedicated library that will allow you to create, upload, or download test summary documents relevant to your company.
Customers can ask CHEMTREC to source summary documents for tests that are not entered into the system.
CHEMTREC can respond to test summary requests as a third-party provider minimizing burdens on corporate resources.
CHEMTREC can provide an external link that can be provided to subscribers and added to a company intranet or public website.
CHEMTREC has the ability to customize this service to meet your company's needs.
