Volunteering will help you find a job!

Volunteering has a very clear purpose, which is to contribute to a social cause, but it is also a means to achieve many other ends, such as access to the labour market for unemployed people. We break it down into 10 reasons:

By volunteering we expand our network of contacts . We meet new people, many in our situation, and others who are working and decide to dedicate their free time to these charitable activities. These people become part of our network of contacts – essential today for job searches – and serve as a link to access companies and/or new professional projects.

All of this will provide us with key resources to better connect with companies when we present our application, as well as to establish a fluid relationship with our interlocutor in job interviews, adapting our responses to the demands of the company.
Volunteering strengthens our “multitasking ” side. Versatility is one of the qualities most in demand by companies in an increasingly competitive market. In other words, organizations value their employees being able to perform different functions. Volunteering prepares us for this, as it is a multifaceted practice per se , which often requires us to take on different roles in the same activity.
Volunteering increases our self-esteem . Contributing to a social need and improving the environment makes us feel useful, improves our mood and enriches us on a personal level. This helps to reinforce a positive attitude and self-confidence when looking for work.
We can fill gaps in our careers . The difficult economic situation has led to a rise in long-term unemployment, as it is becoming increasingly difficult to find work immediately. However, these gaps in activity are still not looked upon favourably by Human Resources Departments and can give a wrong image of ourselves. Volunteering is an effective alternative to fill these gaps. Companies will see that we have not just stood still, but have embarked on projects to help others, in which we have contributed our skills.
Volunteering is an asset to our CV . In addition to filling in gaps, volunteering presupposes all the skills we have mentioned in the previous points: ability to work in a team, versatility, camaraderie, interest, etc. We can highlight them as extra content, after explaining our professional experience.
