Aware of the hook phenomenon of artificial intelligence (AI), Elon Musk has decided to venture into this technology with Grok , a chatbot that promises to become an attractive alternative to ChatGPT and that will be embedded in the social network X (formerly Twitter).

According to the South African entrepreneur, Grok is an AI inspired by the British science fiction novel The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and aims to "answer almost anything and even suggest questions to ask."

Grok also prides itself on being an AI list of real mobile phone numbers database anointed with the gift of wit , which is why it is capable of answering questions posed by users with “a bit of wit and a rebellious streak.” Perhaps for this reason, and in view of the wit lurking in Grok’s entrails, it is advisable not to use this artificial intelligence if “you hate humor,” its creators warn.

Aside from being funny, Grok's main feature is that it has real-time knowledge of the world through the social network X. Elon Musk 's AI thus marks a distance from other artificial intelligences that rely on outdated databases that do not take into account new developments.

Another feature that sets Grok apart from other similar chatbots is that it will answer interesting questions that are often rejected out of hand by most AI systems.

“We want to create AI tools that help humanity in its quest for understanding and knowledge , ” said Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI in a statement . “We believe it is important to design AI tools that are useful to people of all backgrounds and political opinions,” added Elon Musk’s company.

In four different tests Grok outperforms GPT-3.5, but not GPT-4.
Grok aims to become a “powerful research assistant for anyone” by building on the Grok-1 language model. Developed over the past four months after pre-training its predecessor Gork-0 with 33 billion parameters, Grok-1 has been put through a series of evaluations using different standard machine learning benchmarks.

According to xAI, Grok has successfully passed four tests that other AIs have previously faced. The results show that Grok-1 outperforms GPT-3.5 in all tests, although it is easily outperformed by GPT-4, OpenAI's most advanced AI model.
