Privacy shield, the light in the chaos in email marketing caused by safe harbor

Just a few days ago, a new data transfer agreement was announced between the US and the European Union . Being the natural successor to what was once Safe Harbor, this new agreement is called Privacy Shield, after the first one was invalidated by the European Court of Justice last October 2015.
The Fall of Safe Harbor
If you don’t know the story from the beginning, we’ll enlighten you. “ Safe Harbor ” was the name of one of the most prominent EU laws or regulations around working with data; it established a comparative range of strict protections to ensure the data privacy of all EU citizens.
Thus, any company from a country on the “Safe Harbor” list could petroleum manufacturers email lists that it was in compliance with the data protection policies required by the EU. But that ended up being a reality when a ruling by the European Union courts put an end to the regulation, creating a serious problem for many companies focused on online marketing and especially on email marketing (not the case of Mittum).

Following various joint efforts with the United States, the European Commissioner for Justice ( Vera Jourová ) noted that “an agreement is very close ”, under the title of Privacy Shield.
Although there is still no public consultation text that gives this official validity, it seems that we are just a few weeks away from this being done .

Privacy Shield promises to provide stronger obligations to US companies to protect the personal data of EU citizens; in fact, US agencies' access to the data of European citizens will be under constant scrutiny.
