Citrix, a virtualization software manufacturer, has just announced a merger agreement with LogMeIn, a provider of software for remote access to computers.
Valued at US$1.8 billion, the transaction was carried out through a financial procedure called Reverse Morris Trust, which allows the agreement to be carried out without the incidence of any payment of fees and taxes by either party.
The goal of this merger is to add LogMeIn solutions to Citrix's GoTo lithuania whatsapp list family (which includes GoToMeeting, GoToMyPC and GoToAssist), and achieve annual revenues in excess of US$1 billion, including a customer base of around 2 million distributed in virtually every country in the world.
According to market analysts, this agreement will lead to the integration of GoToMeeting and join.me conferencing tools and will result in a strong solution that competes directly with competitors Microsoft, VMware and Cisco. In addition, the combination of technologies has proven to benefit applications focused on the Internet of Things, so we will wait for the official launch.
