As of December 1, 2020, electricity users across the country have started paying more for their monthly consumption. Approved by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), the return to the red tariff flag has a direct impact on companies' budgets . In practice, for every 100 kWh used, R$6.24 is added to the bill.
Knowing which equipment consumes the most energy in your rcs database is essential to cut costs and find more efficient alternatives. With small changes, it is possible to save money and use this resource in a conscious and sustainable way. Therefore, ACP has listed the main “villains” of your electricity bill and provides tips for optimizing consumption . Check them out below.
1- Air conditioning
Air conditioning is one of the devices that most impacts electricity bills in most companies. Especially with the arrival of summer, its use can last the entire business day.
Appliances with a power of 12,000 BTU can consume an average of 100 kWh per month when turned on for 4 hours a day. This is because the amount of energy needed to cool a room is equivalent to using an electric shower. The difference lies in the prolonged use of the air conditioner.
Responsible use: To avoid excessive energy consumption, keep the appliance maintained. Be sure to keep the filters clean and that the air vents are not blocked. In addition, choose to keep the environment at a milder temperature. The lower the required temperature, the greater the air conditioning's electrical consumption.
2- Lighting system
The lighting system must, above all, provide safety and visual comfort in workspaces. For some sectors, it is also essential to highlight products in shop windows and displays. Therefore, lamps are among the equipment that consumes the most energy in companies.
15W fluorescent lamps can consume up to 2.2 kWh per month, with an average of 5 hours of use per day. Another aspect to be analyzed is the lamp's useful life – which can reach 8,000 hours in this model.
For LED lamps, the lifespan is significantly longer – up to 30,000 hours. This model offers energy savings of, on average, 50% compared to fluorescent lamps, which makes it more advantageous and sustainable.
If your goal is to spend less on lighting, be aware of conscious consumption habits. Avoid leaving lights on in empty rooms and during periods of high natural light incidence. And, if possible, use LED bulbs, which are more energy efficient and durable.
3- Computers
Computers, whether laptops or desktops, are present in all companies and are a fundamental part of service provision. However, they are also responsible for a considerable portion of monthly energy consumption.
