There are many ways to say it, guest post, guest blogging, guest author, etc., but all these concepts refer to the same thing, a very beneficial practice for both our SEO and our blog, but which can cause us some problems if we do not follow some minimum standards established by Google.

What is a guest post?
This term refers to a guest author. Guest posts are blog entries written by people outside the website. Normally, this type of collaboration has two purposes:

Complete the information on the blog with texts from other people who can provide interesting information on our blog, dealing with topics different from ours, although related.
Find a link on someone else's blog, based on your own text.
In principle, both objectives are beneficial if they are rcs database for the user, however, sometimes the links are of low quality or contribute little to the blog.

Advantages of including a guest post on your blog
From an SEO perspective, receiving a guest post on your blog has two immediate benefits: on the one hand, by including different topics you are attacking other keywords, and therefore, you will reach a new audience through this type of text.

If you also include a link, the most common thing is to exchange it for another post in which we also include a link that points to our website, although as we will see in the next post, we must be careful with this type of exchange.

How often should we include a guest post?
The number of guest posts depends on the publications we make. A guest post should be a one-time thing, we cannot rely on external posts for our blog.

The most common way to schedule guest posts is on an annual calendar. If we make 2 of our own posts per week, by the end of the year we will have about 100 posts uploaded. If we schedule one guest post per month we will be reinforcing our content, without affecting the style of the blog.

The best advice we can give you is to carefully select the content that goes into your blog. Content that has nothing to do with your blog and that links to it is usually penalized. In addition, you have to think about your audience. If a text does not contribute anything to your usual theme, your regular readers will ignore it.
