E-Ferry Ellen
It is the electric ferry with the largest charging battery so far . For a few months, it has been sailing between two Danish islands, Ærø and Als. Now it also does so between the Danish ports of Søby and Fynshav. All its trips, without noise, fumes or emissions.
With 60 meters of overall length (length) and 13 meters of beam (width), it can sail at a maximum speed of 15.5 knots (28 km/h) .
This project, which was co-founded by the European Union, is capable of transporting 30 cars and 200 passengers , saving the emission of 2,000 tons of CO2 per year.
The Medstraum
is the world's first 100% electric high-speed ferry . According to its website, thanks to the latest generation lithium batteries, it will have a range of 12 hours in port. Now it will run on electricity but in the future, tests will be carried out for the use of green hydrogen since the objective of the shipping company is to continue discovering everything that this decarbonized energy can contribute to the maritime sector. With El Cap de Barbaria , the islands of Ibiza and Formentera are connected in a sustainable way.
